Electrify Your Home

Electrify Your Home with Electrify MC

Montgomery County has launched “Electrify MC,” a pilot program to help residents make the switch from fossil fuels like oil, gas and propane to cleaner electric alternatives. Launched on June 1, 2023, Electrify MC is part of the county’s efforts to promote sustainability, reduce the community’s carbon footprint and support statewide energy efficiency initiatives like Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and EmPOWER Maryland.

Electrify MC simplifies the switch to electric energy for home heating, cooling and other systems. Elysian Energy, a trusted local expert, manages the program and offers guidance throughout the process.

How ElectrifyMC works

Elysian Energy reaches out to residents, answering questions through a dedicated Help Desk and conducting energy audits to provide personalized electrification recommendations. They handle installation and ensure you take full advantage of all available financial incentives.

Montgomery County residents interested in making their homes more energy-efficient and eco-friendly can easily get started by signing the Electrify MC PLEDGE. Elysian Energy will then contact you to discuss the next steps, helping you contribute to a greener community while benefiting from the latest energy technology.

Looking for a qualified contractor in the area?

Electrify DC has put together a Contractor Finder Tool that is easy to use. There is no pay-to-play and they don’t get kickbacks of any kind. They simply list the contractors they would recommend to their friends, based on certifications, ratings, decades of experience in this sector, first hand knowledge, and recommendations from users like you.

This first version of the Contractor Finder Tool allows you to:

  • Search by the project you want to accomplish, whether it be replacing your stove or upgrading your heating and cooling.
  • Find qualified contractors across the DC region, whether you live in Fairfax or in Hyattsville.
  • Select contractors who have been certified by either a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient electric products, a certification body such as the Building Performance Institute, or a government agency or recommended by the homeowners we serve.
  • Shorten the basic vetting as we only included contractors with reviews (Google and Consumers’ Checkbook) indicating good business practices
  • Easily contact contractors directly by clicking on the “Call contractor” button.

In this first version, they have prioritized adding contractors who can help you accomplish the projects that are still accomplishable before the end of the federal tax credits on December 31, 2025.
