Montgomery County is gearing up for its 12th Annual Energy Summit, and they want YOU to be part of it. If you are an expert in building energy performance or have innovative ideas to share, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is inviting proposals for educational sessions at this year’s event.
Save the Date!
The Energy Summit will be held on April 8-9, 2025, at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza. This year’s theme, “Beyond Benchmarking: Navigating Energy Performance,” will explore advanced strategies and innovations that go beyond the basics of energy benchmarking.
What’s the Focus?
The 2025 summit will explore new frontiers in energy-efficient building practices.
“We’re excited to take the next step in energy performance,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “This summit will be an essential opportunity to hear from thought leaders who are pushing the envelope in sustainable building practices. It’s a big part of how we’re working toward our climate action goals and fostering economic growth in the process.”
Who Should Submit Proposals?
DEP is looking for session proposals in five key areas:
- Building improvement strategies and innovative solutions.
- Case studies highlighting successful energy performance improvements.
- Electrification and decarbonization options.
- How to take advantage of financing opportunities and incentives at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Navigating evolving regulations beyond simple benchmarking requirements.
As DEP Director Jon Monger put it, “We’re searching for presenters who are ready to share cutting-edge strategies that go beyond basic energy metrics. This year’s Energy Summit will bring together industry experts to explore what’s next in building energy performance and how to achieve our climate goals.”
Why Should You Participate?
The summit is expected to attract over 300 professionals, including building owners, property managers, developers, energy contractors and sustainability experts from across the DMV area. Presenters will have the opportunity to shape the conversation and help drive the region’s efforts toward a more sustainable future.
How to Get Involved
If you’re interested in speaking at the 2025 Energy Summit, you have until Friday, December 6 to submit your proposal. You can find all the details, including how to apply, by visiting the summit website.
